Its the Tow Bar Thing Again

Featured Replies

:finger: Don't you just hate it when you know that you can't win. Skoda GB really have stiched up some of us who realise just how good a recreational car the vRS could be. Tow bar ... not recommended. Warranty ... invalidated .. honesty (Skoda that is) .. terminated!!! Buy a vRs in Ireland and ask for optional extra part number EEA400001A to be fitted and hey presto ... its a vRS with a tow bar. Now is that magic or a con job perpretrated in the good old UK!!!!!!! :thumbdwn:

Hmmm. was gonna enquire about a towbar for my car off an SDI being broken on ebay, but now I've gone and bolted a vRS bumper to the back I think I'm gonna have to look into this part number for myself.

 Its a real bummer ... if you search on the web and go for Skoda Ireland you enter the land of accessories and bits that don't exist in the UK brochures. So is it a con job or what ... bad image from the 70's means the men in suits are image conscious = lose your licenc but no "pulling" on the way!

Well, I plumbed the part number into google, and it came up with the apparently general standard Fabia towbar listed on the buttco catalogue. I thought this towbar wasn't meant to fit around the vRS bumper skirt thingy?....

are you serious??

oh sh.....

first i've heard of it.....read the info before ordering( well i thought i did!) and didn't see that

wonder what the position is when its arranged by the dealer?

will be interesting when the full info comes out for the new vRS...they've already got problems with the electrics on new ones so if you cannot tow with the vRS then this could well be my First and last Skoda :( That would be a shame as I have thoroughly enjoyed it

The first post I ever read on Briskoda said "You can't tow with a vRS" and it sent me into a panic as I'd alreay ordered one.

Then it transpired it was the Fabia and not the Octavia but nobody bothered to mention that!!

But just to make it clear - you definitely can tow with the Octavia vRS.

Hope this helps :)

Thats just the point .... It fits, but Skoda UK don't want you to do it. Looking at older posts tells me that minor mods only are needed whereas the plonkers in the aftermarkey biz cut huge holes in the back ... check out the towsure site.

Its a good bit of kit and ................

Regretably ....my car is a company car so my hands are tied ... but I am p.... o.. that its just not allowed in uk

  • 2 weeks later...
