Fuel economy stats

Featured Replies

After reading the Fuel economy thread I have decided to keep a log too. Then I thought maybe we all should and then we can compare cars and MPG in this thread. This is clearly an important matter for us Furby VRS peeps!

I would suggest if we each post a table in this thread and just edit our own tables as and when we can, we can have a record of who manages what in which car.

I would also recomend not to have any convesation in this thread, but have a linked thread for discussing the details (can I ask someone else to sort that bit out as I am buggered for time today!) Hopefully if we maintain this thread and/or the other thread, one can be added to the FAQ then it will help all new memebers . . . that have that MPG question . . . .

So come on guys, post your running MPG, as in the format shown in another thread this week:

Fabia VRS

Distance Date Litres MPG(calc) MPG(comp) Difference

458.80 10-02-05 40.69 51.19 53.50 +2.31

Details:

60miles a day commute 55Miles on motorwary @ 65-75 MPH on GPS, mostly nannying . . .@53-58MPG realtime indicated. Undulating roads.

100-200 MIles weekend mixed driving :) 70/30 A roads/town

Car milage: 14k, reg: July 04.

Fuel BP ultimate unless otherwise stated ;)

Distance: is just your running total over the experiment. (trip 2 on the car pooter, don't reset for the duration of logging the table!)

Date: so we can see when the tables were updated.

Litres: is your top up at the pump

MPG(calc): = Distance/(Litres/4.456) as there are 4.546 Litres to the gallon

MPG(comp): is the commulative MPG reading from your skoda (trip 2 on the car pooter, don't reset for the duration of logging the table!)

Difference: is the MPG(comp) - MPG(calc) to see how our cars over/under read. As you can see mine is over reading.

Details: Of course there are all sorts of factors that are not taken into account here, like the accuracy of the odometer, fuel vapour, air temp, tyre type/pressure, driving style, main road types etc . . . so mabye a few words about your particular conditions would help. This should be a nice guide line for people :)

P.S If anyone can edit my table properly for me that would be a great start

Last night home.. took the A40 from Witney (Oxfordshire), went to the M5 through Cheltenham, took the M5 to M6 J19, A556 to M56, M56 to M60 (anti-clockwise) left at J22 M60 onto A62 to my house nearby. 182 mile trip. Return of 71.0 Mpg. Luverly..
