HELP - Warning Light on - ESP?

Featured Replies

Got in the car this morning & up pops a yellow (maybe orange?) warning light described above. A quick look at the manual suggests it's ESP/ABS ? related.

I phoned the local dealer, but they can't look at it for a week. I have a Skoda extended warranty so don't really want to take it anywhere else. Obviously I am hoping that the work/fix will be covered.

Just wondering what the best/worst case would be...could it be as simple as a fuse fault ? or is that too optimistic? It's only just turned 24k.

I have no choice but to continue driving it for the next week...but will be canny.

Sounds like you need to look at this thread as I expect you will be adding your name to the list shortly. Good move on the extended warranty as it seems to only be a matter of time before this fault occurs. I have a 2006 MY vRS and I'm just waiting for the light to ping (but I also have an extended warranty) - phew!)

Thanks for that mate, I had managed to find that post, but wasn't too sure if the same or not.

Do we know that the extended warranty covers this, as they have a way of wangling out of claims.

Fingers crossed. Just marketed the car too - sod's law !

At least i can hopefully say to any prospective buyers, that I can get it fixed.

Hi Harveys, so you've decided to sell! Did the experience of our local dealer put you off that badly?

Aye, you know what I was right up for another Skoda, I have loved the vRS (best car I have owned) & had enquired re a new one or a Scout/Yeti, but service locally is best described as patchy. Too many 'No faults found' & the Brake Fluid loss/cover up was the final straw. I did consider using the outfit in Maud but it's too far out of the way to make it feasible.

So despite the money I have spent on it recently, new cambelt/water pump & the warranty/service plan, etc...I've decided to sell. Someone will get a cracking car.

I am moving onto a 4 year old Volvo XC90 D5 - I know ! I don't plan to use the other great chain in the city...& will probably go to a local indy. The space & the 4wd being the attraction, I will miss the performance for sure. It was time for a change anyway.

Who knows, maybe one day it'll be back...

I've just emailed the service manager in the hope I can get the ABS/ESP thing looked at & fixed ASAP, need to shift the Octy in the next fortnight.

I'd quite fancy the Scout next! I do like the look of the XC90 D5 though (a lot better for those craters!)

Locally Maud is not a bad option for me, unfortunately I've seen them too much as I had the turbo go which was an expense along with the service, bloody good dealer though. With all the recent expense it means I'll probably hold on to the car for a while although I think it's trying to test me.........on Sunday I polished the car and the door mirror glass fell off and smashed! Along with my wife hitting a kerb and writing off a tyre it's been an expensive start to the year!

I had a look on Auto Trader and your car is cracking, hopefully you'll get a buyer, I'd be very tempted if it was the estate......the piece of mind of the warranty and service pack is a god send and of course the extras

Thanks for the comments on the car...it's genuinely the first time I'll be sad to see one go, but like I say, time for a change for several reasons, non car related really ! But I know what you are saying, it's all about the right timing for the change isn't it.

Anyway, to their credit the service manager has 'managed' to get my car in on Thurs & has ordered parts, so fingers crossed. Might yet chuck it in the EE/P&J this weekend...although the advertising budget is well & truly blown !

car went into dealer this morning & when I called just now, they have advised it needs an ABS Control Kit ?? They are off to phone Skoda warranty for authorisation - so fingers crossed. Really need the car back tonight at the latest, but will it be fixed?
