Bleeding brakes

Featured Replies

hi

just fitted new rear calipers but im struggling to get

a brake pedel :'(

is there a special way to get the air out the system??

cheers

If you use the search button in the Octavia Mk1 section, I think you will find your answer.

I know it has been asked many times before.

Best to use a preasure bleed first, if you run the system out of fluid past the master you may find that you may have knackered the seals on the master and then that will reqire changing.

If you have changed the brake pipes, or got air into them, tap them with a spanner as you're bleeding them. I did this, and was surprised to find more bubbles coming out.

I used a gunson eezibleed kit.

However, if you have managed to get air in the abs module by letting to MC run dry, you will need to bleed it with vagcom, or get a stealer to do it. You can't remove air from the ABD pump without a diag tool.

Deffo go for the ezebleed. I bought one, when I changed my caliper. Not only can you bleed brakes on your own, I feel you're not stretching the seels in the master cylinder so much.

It does make it really simple doesn't it.

Just don't do what I did and wade in without reading the instructions. I removed the cap from the reservoir without disconnecting the tyre pressure first. Result: Brake fluid all over me, the drive and the engine bay.
