definitive answer please

Featured Replies

I know this has been raised many many times, and I have read pretty much all there is to read on this forum ans elsehwere on the web, but I still cannot decide the answer.

Is it worth fitting the PD160 Intake to my Stage 1 remap vRS (172bhp - 285ft/lb)

Some say much better

Some say no difference

Some even say may loose power

I'll do what the majority say (unless its obsecene)

thanks

I have no idea, but maybe make a poll if you just want to go with a majority verdict?

More air into the engine the better, Not always more power but helps the engine rev freely. As the PD160 is a larger duct for airflow then yes it is better.

Surely there must be a way to get an alternative to this £100 piece of plastic...

I also want to know if its worth buying it before i have mine mapped too, but if there was an alternative id be keen to try it.

As above but try and source the PD160 on Ebay or on here. Seat want silly money for them.

I found when I had my BLT Fabia mapped the engine stutter became worse. Reducing the EGR improved the driveability below 2000 rpm. I replaced the standard 25mm EGR gasket with a 9mm one. It cost about £2.10 from TPS

no positive proof it makes any differance...seems it can be remapped to 175bhp ish with or without one fitted...

My vRS is standard and I noticed the car ran and sounded much better with the bigger pipes  As someone has said the more air through the better.

More cold air the better.

Looks like im gonna have to bite the bullet then or find a way to make a good quality diy one :o

As i said on a previous thread, if the 130 intake was ok for more power then they wouldnt have bothered making the pd160 intake for the pd160 would they?

Matt

You need to improve the airflow before any remap, in fact you need to do any induction or exhaust mods before a remap or the tuning geezer can get the best out of your engine.

Make your own intake, thats a good idea, you'll need to experiment with different types of ducting, let us know what fits the best.

And I thought Static was not going to mod his engine.

make your own for less than pd160...

pd160 used to be a no brainer but seat have pumped prices through the roof as every1 was after 1...

must be 5,000 pd160 ibiza's on the road and 50,000 pd160 intakes lol

thanks for the feedback - read a piece on large diameter DIY air intake where it actually lost power due the the huge increase in air affected the mixture of air to fuel - will try to find a link - would probably work if mapped to take increased air flow into account but mine is already mapped.

over £80 is expensive for no real return so may hold off for now - rear arb on its way so I'll just stick with that for now i think - just want to get the best out of the car for a reasonable price.

Hoping to go for stage 1 or stage 2 hybrid conversion sometime this year - just need a few more pennies

cheers again
