Replacing the convenience module

Featured Replies

Hello guys, after a load of alarm problems and key issues I'm going to replace the above.

Now where do I find it, I've seen the thread saying the ecu is just to the side of the steering column but I don't think thats the convenience module.

Any help would be much appreciated

Dave

Yes that's it, above the clutch pedal, two plugs on it.

Does the dash facia have to come come off or can it be replaced without removing stuff

The underside of the dash in the drivers footwell has to be removed which is a bit of a pig! Remove the cover between the steering wheel and the instruments (pull towards wheel) this reveals two screws near wheel to undo...then remove end panel cover of dash (fuse box cover) and undo the screws supporting the bottom bit of dash that are now exposed....then find the other 4 or 5 screws under the steering wheel... now the pig!!!! press the headight switch in...turn to middle position (12 o'clock)....put small flat blade screwdriver between the dash and the mounting surround for this whole unit next to the dimming rottary knob...now carefully lever/pull the whole swith unit from dash.....unplug the two connectors from the back of it.....only now can you remove the lower dash panel from the drivers side!!!!

The conveniece module is the 4" by 6" (approx.) box which is horizontally placed above the clutch pedal... just unclip it from the supports and disconnect.. You might, once you have fitted the new unit and reconnected the battery have to reset the windows etc......Lock the car using the key in the lock...keep the key in the lock and rotate the key (try one way then the other....windows might wind down if so turn the other way)...then hold key in this position after the window motors (even if correct way first time the motors with briefly activate) stop....for a further 5secs...remove key from lock...job done!!!
