clean engine bay + the gunk from the elephant mod shocker! (with pics)

Featured Replies

After being rather bored at home, i decided to whip of the EGR and give it a going over, i couldn't get to the back allen bolt holding the exhaust to the underside of the EGR so gave up for now!

as the car has done 193,500 miles the engine bay has a little corrosion around fuel rails rocker cover etc so i decided to treat it to a little clean up! looks rather nice now (although covered with the engine cover most of the time) may be a diesel but it still deserves to shine!

Also i emptied my catch can on my pikey elephant mod (Breather catch can)

its only done maybe 1000 miles if that since installing it and there must have been 200ml of horrible oily watery much in it!

New Shiny Shiny Engine bay showing the pikey mod with new hoses:

I'm going to do some more sanding polishing and shining when i get the chance to make it all look very nice!

And finally here is the horrible mess in my catch can that if wasn't in place would be in the turbo/intercooler clogging it all up (Stupid VAG design!!)

If you haven't done this mod, i really couldn't express how shocked i was with that amount of rubbish coming out of it! i used some washing machine hose, a few jubilee clips and a small bottle! took circa 5 minutes!
