drive shaft boot replacement

Featured Replies

has anyone replaced the cv boots, do you need to remove the entire shaft or can it be done it sit by hittting off the outer cv joint like some other cars?

Its easier to remove the entire shaft, as to get the joint off the end requires quites some well forced and well aimed hits, it is a very tight circlip.

Also, if it is the N/S, then the shaft can be removed by removing the hub bolt (must be replaced) and the 6 driveshaft bolts. Thats all, there is enough flex in the inner joint to allow it to come out.

If however it is the O/S, due to the exhaust, gearbox mount and driveshaft cover, make it very tricky. The best way i to remove the two top links and pull the leg forwards.

Good luck.

Agree with the above except I remove one of the lower arm 18mm nuts, works the same and saves messing with the top bolt which will probably be seized.
