Problems Installing Update To Windows Live

Featured Replies

Keep on getting this error message:-

MESSENGER

A network error was encountered whilst attempting to read from the file:-

C:\WINDOWS\Installer\Messenger.Msi

Please close other programs then try again.

It looks like another program is preventing the installer ffrom working. hn0x80070643

TRY Again.

Basically, each time, I execute the program it installs everything up to the end of the run bar i.e. 100% and then starts to de-install everything, leavingb the error message above.

I've turned-off the Norton Smartwall. Deinstalled Microsoft Outlook connector (In case that was producing the problem). Closed down a web cam program as instructed by the install program and allowed the insatll program to close dowm automatically Windows Messenger and Windows Live Platform. And still I get the error message. Also I closed down the real tek sound icon onn the system task bar.

Only other running applications leftb in the system task bar on the desktop are an icon for an Epson SX410 printer, Norton Internet Security, system icons for a disconnected wired network and two icons for an active wireless network, and the system safely remove hardware icon.

Any ideas what's causing this problem ?

Unfortunately, no luck ! Still rolling-back as before. Microsoft Net Framework already installed. Used "Re-image" application, but it didn't touch the net framework stuff.

I think its going to need a disk wipe and a complete re-install. Wasn't it always so with XP !!

Of course there is always the possibility that the update is faulty.
