For the last couple of weeks the dynamo warning light ( battery symbol ) hasn't come on with ignition. Any ideas why this could be and am i likely to be doing any damage by driving the car?

The symbol looks like a dynamo but, in reality it is the alternator.

Facia warning bulb or a fuse blown, would be my first guess.
