Octavia vRS hibernation over

Featured Replies

Well, as the sun came out today and the warm weather returned, my Octy vRS came out from under cover for the first time in 2011..... it's been hiding away for the last 6 months from all the cold winter weather and road salt.

I'm pleased to say it's running spot on as usual and still looks (IMO) amazing.

I took some pic's to prove it does actually move lol.

Thanks for the kind comments falla's :)

Pic's were taken on the North Yorks moors between Commondale and Castleton.

The rims are MAK Velano 8x18" ET35 (painted hyper silver), with 225 40 R18 tyres.

Bill.

You must cherish this as Im guessing 99% of the cars on here are daily hacks in all weathers

Have you had it since new - whats the lowdown on it?

Hi

Yes I've owned it from new, its a 53 plate and only done 23K, it's one of my sunny/dry week end toy's (the other one is a Honda fireblade HRC- RR7).

This was the very first Skoda car that I actually wanted to own and drive, the car that tempted me to make the change away from years and years of owning many different types of Ford XR & RS cars.

I did'nt know then and I dont know now what it is about the shape of the MK1 Octy vRS but as soon as I saw it, I had to have it, and never want to sell it.

OH mate, I know the feeling there.

Someone had a black mk 1 vRS at Carrerick Garrison and every ttime I took my L/R to get refueled it was there parked near the main gate of the camp. I stopped one day to see what it was to my horror. lol

the shape is something special and every time I look at it.....

it is a nice shape, unlike pritty much all modern cars, it doesnt seem to be as fat. eg the mk2. all new cars just look to be big and bulky and fat lol.

You and Lloyd are both lucky, think his has even less miles on but that milage is sickening lol.

just noticed zorst lol

Agreed yes, still looks good now I think amongst the other drabness on the road.

Im guessing its had a few tweaks then.

Lovely example. The wheels and exhaust compliment it too, rather than just being aftermarket emoticon-0148-yes.gif

What exhaust is it, out of interest?

Im thinking a Milltek

Im thinking a Milltek

Correct

Its the Miltec 2.76" turbo back....it was very expensive but IMO was worth the £££ because it looks and sounds so much better than the OEM setup.

Up front its also got a (equally expensive) pro-alloy FMIC fitted.

Thank you all for the comments

Bill.

Looking good mate.

Over the winter, where do you store it? Any problems? Do you jack it up to take pressure from tyres? I'm wanting to do this to mine over the winter period as I have use of a Corsa for during the week.

Cheers,

LUke

Hi Luke

The car is stored in a heated garage, supported on axle stands with the wheels clear of the ground.

I've had no probs so far, but I do turn the engine crank shaft half a turn (by hand) every couple of weeks to help prevent the valve springs weakening.

Bill.

I'd love to do that myself with mine, as I hardly use my car - it sits on my drive 6 out of 7 days a week, gets used for around 50 miles and gets parked up again, so I need to look at ways to help it in the future.

Mine is a 2004 with 44k on the clock - exactly same as yours. Thanks for the information :)
