Leaking pipe

Featured Replies

hi i have recently notice that oil patches on the floor overnight.the oil seems to come from the pipe next to the passenger side wheel.

what is that pipe for and possible cost to fix?looks like a bumper off job :'(

If it's at the front it's the power steering so check the level, if not it could be coming from a radiator hose, you get a bit of a build up in the thick plastic pipe underneath anyway.

its is the front pipe that go round the whole front of the car underneath and its under the large soft hose coming out of the engine.

i mean could it just be too much engine oil(which i checked its under the max marker) or fuel being extracted while combusting?

booked a major service in May, anything to look out for so I can get it done or i dont get scammed?£260 inc MOT good price?

anyone got any idea?

Yes.

The leak is from the pressurised air pipe at the inlet to the intercooler. Because the joint is at a low point, any oil in the charge air will leak past the "O" ring seal and end up on the undertray.

Some leakage here is completely normal on PD engines. If your engine oil consumption is OK, don't worry about it. You can reduce the leak by changing the "O" ring (available from VW).

really thank you rotodiesel as im really worried as the oil has gone on to the suspension arm and i thought it might be something to do with the suspension which is really dangerous!! so the oil leak is not dangerous by any mean?i understand it as it is just engine oil leaking?

also there is a high pitch noise when i turn on the AC and it sounds faster when the rev is higher.this is due to???

a 2 years major service is due lots of problem start to show up :( i just try to get as much info here as i can so i dont get rip off since the damage is bad enough already
