Creaky doors

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Firstly I enjoy reading posts here and so here is something back...

I posted a topic some time ago about my creaking doors and got many useful suggestions about how to fix it. I tried out many of these fixes (most were of the opinion the rubbers seals were rubbing on the frame causing the creaks/squeaks). The suggestions were somewhat useful but didn’t quite solve the problem ..to be fair it cut the noise level by 70%.

On my last service I relayed my experiences to the garage and they dutifully sat in the car with me listening for the creaks. Thankfully they didn’t think I was mad and set about fixing the problem. Truthfully I didn’t hold out much hope but when i arrived to collect the car they said they had done their best and they thought it was ok.

Three weeks on (2,000 miles a lot of rough roads and not a squeak...not one). As far as I could assertain from the service manager the mechanic adjusted the doors which included adjusting the door stops. No adjustment or greasing etc of the rubbers seals. As far as I could gather that’s all the garage did.

Hope this helps if you were pestered with this niggling problem as I was
