Looking at Connects2, found an interesting thing with CarAudioSecurity!

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I have been searching on here about how best to get my MP3 collection into my new Fabia.

I have decided to stay OEM with the HU, and go for a Connects2. I am also buying a new 6th Gen iPod Classic to store in the glovebox.

Reading up on the CarAudioSecurity web page, it sounds like I may need an adaptor, as well as the Connects2 lead (althought the lead page says I do need adaptor for 6th Gen Classic, the adaptor page does not list it! I have emailed them) - but this is not the point of this post.

If anyone is in the same boat, I can maybe save you a couple of quid...

First up, we have the Connects2 lead page http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/6282.html

Retailing at £49.99

You may then need the adaptor http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/12888.html

Retailing at £16.99

Running total of £66.98

Then I stumbled across this page http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/14703.html

This includes both the first 2 products, in a kit, and only £59.99!

So, if you need both (like I may appear to) - you can save yourself £7 by buying the kit.

Slightly disappointed that the shopping basket doesn't register this if you add them individually and offer as an alternative, but then I guess it's not the most leading edge website i've ever seen!

I don't suppose anyone can confirm whether I need the adaptor for a 6th Gen ipod classic?

When I hear back either way from the suppliers. i'll update this thread accordingly.

Cheers,

Steven

Depends whether you want to charge your ipod as that is all the adaptor appears to be for.

Personally i went for the basic Connects2 AUX in version which still connected to the CD changer port on the HU but you still had to use the ipod or iphone controls to change tracks. You still used the volume on the HU obviously. That was only around £30 when i got it a few years ago.

Cheers

Dave.
