Vogtland springs and shocks...

Featured Replies

Good luck with the search mate. I'm in the same boat too.

mikejay's review of the Koni's was leading me that way but seeing your thread on the Vogtlands has thrown in another contender.

Keep us posted with what you go with

Just had a thought,

Are there any bushes or rubber bits that are worth changing when these are

being fitted :wonder: . Don't necessarily want to uprate anything else down there

as this setup shouldn't be too harsh in comparison to normal ride.

But if it's worth renewing anything while the fitter is at it then

I'd be mad not to, especially if the items are inexpensive.

Any thoughts?

check bump stops? the rubber top mount that the rear spring sits into aswell i fink they r pretti cheap.

They arrived today, a little disappointed that they are actually yellow shocks

rather than black but otherwise happy. Hopefully they'll be on by next week

Here's some pics. :smirk:

Sweeeet! Looking forward to seeing how you get on with them :-)

Just got the car back.

Very, very happy with the subtle drop

Ride quality is comparable with OEM which isn't a bad thing,

but I've not pushed it yet as I've only driven it the 6 miles back

from the workshop so far. And I was taking it easy cos the brakes

are new too. I'll post a more detailed review once I've got

100 odd miles under my belt.

Pics when it's had a wash, but I'm off out for a burn first

once I've emptied the car of all the old components.

Didn't want to chuck it about too much with it full of

brakes and shocks and stuff.

I want to make a start on bedding in the 312 Pagids ;)

Watch this space for pics soon.

But so far I'm happy

Sweet, looking forward to your review

Nice and understated then. You won't be able to tell they're not oem when they're on the car..........

Yeah I know... Was in two minds wheteher or not to return them as the picture on the

website suggested they'd be black. :(

In the end I decided the purple springs gave the game away anyway so I decided to

keep them. Glad I did.

The ride quality is pretty good, they soak up small bumps and undulations

very well. But bigger dips and potholes are more noticeable, .

I was worrried these would be too hard like my spax coilies were on my last car

But I'm extremely glad I opted for these. Without doubt better than what came off.

I realise I'm comparing these to shocks that had 80k on them but after a semi spirited

drive last night I'm more than pleased so far. The car has settled a bit more at the

rear after last nights tomfoolery too ;) They have totally transformed how my car drives.

Just have to get used to how different it feels before I go mental oriental.

Going out again tonight for a spin so I'll try and get the car out on some motorway type roads to see

if there's any difference there. Round town they are definitely a significant improvement.

Took some pics yesterday after they had been on for 9 miles.

Busy working on my van at the moment but I'll try and post them later.

Very intrested to know how you get on shame there bright yellow mate

How's the RARB behaving now it's lower? If the car's rolling less in corners, the ARB effect is reduced unless it can be stiffened.

stuff

Glad they're working OK for you and you're pleased with the results.

No "stuff" :D for once, just pics...

Photos taken only 9 miles driven after fitting. Still has to settle a bit.

But I'm not really after drop in any case, better handling is what I'm after. B)

Interesting point. When the old shocks were on its effect was certainly more pronounced

Luckily ( Because lets not forget I was having a punt with these really,,, )

the Vogtlands seem to work in harmony with it so the overall effect is well balanced.

I've always wanted my Fabia to be a mildly breathed on car. I could have bought stiffer

suspension, I could have bought the Jabba bar, it could be lower than I have it,

I could buy a bigger turbo, I could get a huge front mount intercooler etc etc etc

I think I've taken a stock car and made it a nicer thing to drive without going bananas

on hugely expensive performance enhancing mods.

It's now a nicer place to sit with little subtle cabin mods and soon leather I hope.

I think it looks nicer with some of the external mods I have done but some may go

in future but for now I like how they look and they are all reversible in any case.

Mechanically I'm just about done although I may give the rear

brakes a makeover like the fronts have had with the slightly larger option

but thats about it.Next on the agenda is sorting out the bodywork. Starting with wheels,

dropped my recently acquired steelies off at this place for a powdercoat in gloss black

today .. http://www.realitymotorworks.com/

Having spoken to Nick down there they use a thorough process to ensure

a perfect finish. Some of the motorbikes in the gallery on their site are awesome.

Below is the process they use pasted in from their website for those who are interested

and at £35 per wheel I'm happy with the price too

(taken from their website)

The entire powder coating process involves several steps, generally: degreasing,

blasting, chemi-stripping, degassing (out gassing) and masking.

Finally, fully curing the powder in the oven, generally at 200 degrees C

Looking forward to getting them back when they are done.

They are VERY busy down there and I'm looking at about 10 days.

Loads and loads of bike parts in there being worked on. And best of all

it's 5 miles away from home

Top work Garry. A lot of changes and improvements in such a short period is good to see!

Be intersting to see how the suspension works out.

I find mine dreadful on the OEM springs and shocks with the front brace and Jabba rear bar. Soft and and a bit wallowy when pushing on and then harsh and crashing in town. Thhe Vogtlands could be a worth while investment if they turn out ok

Look forward to the wheels refurb too.

Seems like a good price for the level of whrk they clearly do and on your doorstep too.

Although you appear to have gone soft! I mean surely, given your brake preparation, this

Finally, fully curing the powder in the oven, generally at 200 degrees C

you could do at home :D
