Columbus

Featured Replies

I am considering buying a columbus from that well know auction site as a replacement for the fitted bolereo in my Yeti 1.2.Got some information from searches but need a bit more up to date info.

I understand this is the model for the Yeti.

3TO 035 680.

If this is fitted in my 2011 Elegance will the standard fitted bluetooth work and will park assist with the the front and rear senors show in the display.

Will I require setup via VCDS.

The bluebooth ought to work, the front and rear sensors display ought to work, but it does depend on what software you are using. There is a fantastic area on the forum called ICE/security and insurance which covers all these issues, as you are not actually asking a specific Yeti question, but a general question about columbus and what you need to get it to work in ANY of the latest cars -all cars will have pretty much the same issues. - read the threads on firmware updates....2664 etc.

For not a great deal more you could have the system fitted by oemretrofits (look up on the internet), who are based up north somewhere, and they might possibly be a more legit place to buy the system. This has also been extensively covered in that forum area

To get the most of the Columbus you will need it VCSD'd. though most bits might work without. ie you might not get the MFSW controls working properly. If you wish to have the voice activation to operate the Columbus using voice, as per the factory installed cars, then you will need to have some surgery done to your existing wiring to re-route your microphone cable as I currently understand it.

Lots of reading for you..........

PS I did buy a Columbus off eBay, which I retrofitted to my old Octavia, but I was very dubious of the source. Sold it separately to the car after I sold the car. I should have used OEM Retrofits as I had many problems.

As for part number, all I know is that you need at least a 3T0 (not a 1Z0 as that will not support all the functions you talk about), best contact somebody on the other forum.

Thanks Rockhopper

Will give Retofits a call on Tuesday.

Bought a Columbus unit from that well known auction place for a bit over £500 and it works fine.

With what I sold the Bolero for it actually cost me £350. Worth comparing when the brochure price is £1400+. :o

Plug and play on our SE with no bluetooth.

Front and back parking sensors display, no issues.
