Stream cd problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Skoda Octavia II fitted with a Stream stereo.

My girlfriend inserted a cd in the cd slot when already a cd was loaded in the

cd player. Now, the cd player does not eject any of the two cd's.

Is there any simple way to get the discs out of the cd player?

Thanks for any tip.

Fred

Open the Cd player by beating the GFs head against it?

I actually Lol'd everywhere at that! hahaha

Got any needle nose pliers/tweezers? Might struggle to not damage the CD though! :(

Might work with tweezers with the narrow cd slot, otherwise it sounds like you will have to take the unit out of the car and open it up to extract the cds.

Before you take the CD player apart I suggest you read the manual. The standard procedure for ejecting a CD/tray which won't respond is to push a straightened paper clip inserted into a small hole to the right of the slot/tray.

Might be possible on this type. I won't read the manual for you :smirk: That said you may have to take the CD player out and remove the top casing. the Cd's will be visible then.

Funny, the swedish manual does not state anything on straightened paperclips and the small hole.

I'll check that tomorrow. Possibly manuals in languages for larger markets contains more info.

Wouldn't surprise me.

One could think the cd player should not accept another cd when one is already loaded, but it did

and without forcing the cd into the slot. A combination of bad engineering and bad memory..:-)

There is no small hole to the right of the slot..and I do read manuals. Nothing is stated on this problem.

This should not be too uncommon.

However, I managed to get the discs out of the player. I made a tool with a small hook of a small diameter steel rod.

After a few tries I managed to get the cd player to eject the discs. And the cd-player is still working.

No method if you're very careful, but since the alternative was to let the Skoda workshop fix the cd-player I thought

I hadn't much to loose..
