Huge stone chip on bonnet

Featured Replies

Hi,

Last night noticed a huge stone chip on my bonnet, more like a chunk out of it. Rung ChipsAway who are coming to give me a quote, does anyone have any other recommendations of either national chain or local company in north east? Cheers.

What colour is the car? Wouldnt really reccomend a smart repair ie blow in on a bonnet. better to blow the basecoat in and lacquer out the panel. Chips away quality is wholly dependent on the skill of the individual, i thought about doing it myself and attended a seminar where i was the only person there that had worked in the refinishing trade.

Just noticed your car is white, would definately take it to a quality bodyshop. Even in the cleanest environment the chances of achieving a completley dirt free finish are slim and as most dirt nibs are dark in colour they will show more on white car so trying to do it outdoors under a tent for me is a no no.

If its north east chip away it will probably be Gary who has done work for me before and I have been pleased with it. He's a good guy too and if the job's too big or he doesn't think he can do it he'll tell you. Don't think a stone chip will worry him too much though.

Thanks for the advice. Bloke from chips away is called Brian. Think I'll try calling a few local body shop repair places, thanks.

We really need pics, where abouts on bonnet, size? Depth?

IIRC Chips away charge £99 +vat per chip fixed, which is what I was quoted a while ago ( but your area may be different) .

My local guy did a very good job on the Black Fabia vRS I had, but when i needed several done on the FIAT 500, it was cheaper to goto a recommended garage.
