Yes,

Cars until late 2010 (2011 models) should have been (in the UK) supplied with the disc.

Al.

My 2011 (5weeks old) has the maps on the hd, but I also received the DVD :)

Good evening Folks,

I got my (almost) my Superb last Saturday and there is a DVD in the glove box. It says "v7" but I can't remember all the other numbers and codes on it. It is still sealed.

Is there any way *I* can check what version of MAP and FIRMWARE are installed on the Columbus unit, or do I need to find someone with VCDS (or a my dealer?) to do this?

Thanks!

ThePuss

thepuss, easiest way is to see if you have 7 digit postcode searches available, if you do then it's running V7 maps and latest firmware.

If you really need to 'see' what firmware it is on then you will need someone with VCDS

Thanks Gizmo68!

I don't seem to have the 7 digit postcodes... When I type XX7 1--, it switches to ask me the place after the "1" , that being the 4th (well, 5th I suppose) character.

But I don't know if this is because of firmware or maps?! As I say I have the unopened v7 maps disk... whether that means its not installed but the firmware is OK, so I just need to install the maps

-OR-

Whether v7 maps are installed but the firmware isn't the right version...

...I don't know.

Incidentally, a bit of a thread hijack, but do you find "FUELLY.COM" useful? I noticed it on your signature and went to look it up. I think I might start using it, especially as it will encourage me to keep better track of my business mileage!

Puss.

You could try updating the maps by loading the V7 disc (if it doesn't load then V7 is already installed) failing that it will be the firmware that is not up to date.

I found fuelly very useful whilst I was adjusting the consumption on the MFD,

Thanks - I'll read up on the map update process and give it a try over the weekend.

I've signed up to fuelly...

to update, pop the dvd in the columbus and select the save option, and thats it. copy takes about 50 mins. If nothing comes up when you put the disk in you already have the latest version.

Thanks for your replies.Good news, i contacted my dealer and asked for the DVD and they have supplied a V7 disc, i think my firmware should be ok as the cars just been in for an update on the columbus system as it was playing up. I will install at the weekend and have to benefit of 7 digit postcode :)

I recently took delivery of my Octy vRS with Columbus factory installed.

They had installed the maps to HD for me and left the DVD in the glovebox - V7 maps.

However I found that although V7 maps had been installed I still didn't have the 7-digit postcode search.

I attempted to reinstall the maps from the supplied DVD - nothing, it detected the same version on the HD as on the DVD so didn't offer me the option to install.

Did some digging around and the unit must have a particular firmware revision (27xx I believe) or else the 7-digit searching doesn't work.

I found the updated firmware over at VWNavi, downloaded and installed.

Unfortunately it also wiped the HD!! :(

Anyway, then reinstalled the supplied maps and I've got full 7-digit searching now.

So it maybe that you need to update the firmware.

It is supposed to be a non-destructive update, but I lost my maps and all my music and had to reinstall it all after the update.
