Installing MP3 jack socket into new Octavia

Featured Replies

My new Octavia is fitted with a Bolero touchscreen audio system unit, which requires an SD card for Auxiliary input. In my previous (Ford)car I had an old cassette tape player and a Walkman MP3 which both plugged into a jack socket in the glove compartment and linked to the car audio system. Very cheap and easy to install. Is it feasible/affordable to install a similar socket in the new Octavia? Thanks

If you have the "Jumbo Box" between the front seats there is an auxilliary stereo jack in there, this is connected directly to the Bolero unit.

Buying an SD card will be a cheaper and better controlled option.

Many thanks for the quick response, Billy T. I'm embarrassed to say I do not know if the Jumbo Box is there (I'm collecting the car next week)but it sounds a very practicaland useful suggestion. Much obliged. J

Assuming the car in your info is the one you are buying then you won't have the Jumbo Box as according to the brochure the SE does not come with this as standard.... I would look at transferring your MP3 to an SD card as the touch screen makes it very easy to navigate through and listen too

I'm sure you will be able to add an AUX in socket if you really want to as the Bolero has the inputs but you'll be pulling the dash apart and drilling holes in trim to add it...

I got a dennison ice wired fm modulator fitted wasn't too expensive and can either plug in my ipod (charges it too) or will plug into the 3.5mm headphone jack of other mp3's. the Sd card isn't too bad though. I got it fitted at an auto electrians .
