thanks for the quick reply mate

so i have the 130bhp model.! i wasnt expecting that.

what can i do to better the performance of this engine?

the only thing i have done is fitted a k&n replacement air filter.

also i "think" i may have a problem with the egr valve! that is if it is the egr valve?

does the egr valve sit to the right of the airbox? sort of above the turbocharger? if it is this then my egr valve is leaking oil.

should i replace or better still can the egr valve on this awx model be deleted without any error codes appearing?

Throw away the aftermarket air cleaner unless you want a contaminated MAF transducer, more noise and less efficient filtration. A new paper element from Mann & Hummel in a clean air box will give by far the best performance.

Check that the engine is not overfilled with oil and replace the EGR valve if it is leaking badly. Some oil leakage here is "almost" normal. Check that the crankcase breather pipe is unobstructed.

Don't fiddle with the AWX engine - it's easily the best engine ever fitted to the Mk 1 Superb. Look after it properly and don't bodge. If you do, it will bite you.

They do map quite well, Speak to Ben at shark performance im sure he could do you a nice map for better economy and better power without going silly,

As for panel filters not really much benefit unless your planning on keeping the car for ages then they can recoup there cost as they are washable, the k&Ns can cause problems with the mafs if over oiled, personally go for a standard filter and replace more often or find a non oiled one,

as said the egrs do leak oil depnding on how much to how bad it is, best thing to do would be take it off, clean it up(lots of guides on here) and refit, then keep an eye on it over the next few months,

One of the best mods is a catch can to stop the oil going into the system in the first place, again have a search lots of usefull threads even in the fabia section, similar principles just your engine is round the wrong way lol

as for egr deletes they prob do do them like in the fabia platform, ive got mine deleted and mapped out by Ben when i had it mapped so no cel light.

Hope this helps

awx is the best engine fitted to the mk1.! thats great.

i agree, im not really one for messing with something that is ok to start with

the only thing is that i am finding the car abit sluggish to drive, almost a lag type feeling.

i will see what i can do with the egr valve first

could someone possibly give me a link to where i can purchase a good quality egr valve but without the skoda/vw price tag

thanks.

get the car scanned it certainly shouldnt be sluggish, could be the maf playing up

getting the car scanned... is this a dealership only job or are there independant specialists out there?

sorry for my lack of knowledge but i am only used to old skool pushrod carbed engines.

are there any specialists in the derby or nottingham area that anyone is familiar with?

shark performance is in mansfield? they have the software to check for faults, unit 18 are milton keynes, check the site sponsers

DSB Autos in Bulwell have a good name - no first hand experience.

Easy way to tell engines is the TDi badge, totally silver is 105, red T is 115, red TD is 130, hth.

Plenty of badges on eBay - use engine code.
