Not starting when warm

Featured Replies

Hi

Our Petrol Fabia has just started not starting when warm. It starts when cold and it starts up when I stalled it, but not when it has been only left for 15 minutes. We then need to leave it for an hour to cool right down.

From previous posts it seems that this might relate to the temperature sensor but anyone got any ideas.

Thanks

David

ehat sort of mileage / age, I once had an escort 1.6 that did this, it turned out to be the hydraulic tappets were badly worn, when the oil was hot and thin they didn't work only when the oil was thick enough once it had cooled did it start again.

Sounds like the symptoms of crank postion sensor failure, it would be wise to have the car checked for fault codes before spending money on parts though.

On the Fabia`s they dont have much issues with the CTS , this is because they are only a 2 pin plug

I would have a look at something else , as suggested , worth a try of the crank position sensor ;) good luck

I've seen a few Fabia petrols where the CTS is giving some impossible readings, yet not showing any fault when scanned, all of these had a starting problem.

I had a Fabia , and that had the CTS replaced , not because of poor starting , but because of the temp guage reading incorrect

As it is a 2 pin one , rather than the 4 , as this does not do the fuelling

I have been wrong in the past , so can be again , but this is what I have found with the Fabia

But then there is a few engines that it could be , all have different issues too

There is the 1.2 with 2 engine , the 1,4 with 2 engines and also the 2.0
