First time with Skoda Assist.....

Featured Replies

First time having to call Skoda Assist for my 58 VRS CR TDi

Went to fill up the car and got about 1/2 mile down the road and the glow plug light started flashing.

I thought I had noticed the car's idle was a bit off and it tended to overrun a touch when you turned off the engine or it would turn off with a bit of a chug.

Filled up and it cleared the fault which came back on after 1/2 mile again and I got back the yard at work.

I phone Warrington Skoda who advised me not to drive it and to ring assist.

A VW Assist van turned up after about 30mins and he took off the inlet manifold.

He said the cogs can wear inside the gubbins that open and close the throttle.

When he took it to bits the cogs had shattered so he couldn't fix it there and then.

He ordered the parts and came back to fix it today took him about 20mins and its back to its best.

Very impressed great quick service.

Better than when my mate's 58 Insignia spunked its gearbox and he had no recovery at all.

I didn't take them up on the courtesey car while it was just for a day although I did have to endure a 160k Mondeo

Anyone else had this problem?

It doesn't have a throttle. I'm guessing he meant cogs in the EGR mechanism, connecting the motor to the flap.

just had a requirement to call SKoda Assist. Told them the problem (collant light) and they adivsed me not to drive. When I told them I had to, they said that they will make a note of their advice.

RAC turned up within 30 minutes, and after a while the guy found the leak, but being saturday afternoon, cant do much about it, so is patching it up. He has actually said that his patch up will be more difficult than replacing the actual pipe that has a whole in it.

Great serivce, just a shame that the pipe has worn as it does not appear to have been secured propoerly when I had some repairs done.

RAC Van, not VW.
