Depreciation while waiting for a Yeti

Featured Replies

Hi All out there in BRISKODA land can anyone offer any advice. I ordered a Yeti in January of this year through the main dealer in Edinburgh. At the time I knew that there were some delay problems with them being built but since then I have found out that any first possible delivery date given is likely to just be hopeful. I was trading in my car as part of the deal and the price offered seemed reasonable at the time. However what happens to the value quoted when the car has to be used every day for work and commute? It surely has to fall as the mileage grows. Has anyone any experiences that they can share about final price offered on their car being less than was hoped for when their Yeti is actually available to trade? I really don't want to get to a situation where the new car is ready, date unknown, but there is a large gap between what I hoped to pay and what then has to be paid.

Welcome! I'm waiting for a Fabia vRS which is due about September. My dealer gave me a value for trade in time and said it was guaranteed so as far as I'm concerned they have to gave me that much as a minimum. Hopefully I'll be selling private though

Welcome to Briskoda.

Make sure to check out the scottish region of Briskoda.

I'm sure when I was at the said main dealer in Edinburgh quoted to a customer that the car would have to come back to be re-valued near to pick up time.

Mine took 4 weeks longer than expected last year n i put an extra 1200 miles on it but they gave me exactly the same as originally offered, your best idea is to check with the dealer, but they usually build depreciation into their offer, if the new build takes longer than expected then it is their loss not yours but oinly if you have an AGREED trade in value which should be part of your original offer/deal on ordering the car.

Cheers for your input Davy. The dealer did say the car would be revalued a month before the Yeti arrived but as they really seem to have no idea when the Yeti will actually be built, 1,2,3 months time (even though ETA on paper was 6th June)I still worry that the loss, depreciation on my Kia, (which I had to buy to get through last winters snow) may be more than was originally thought.

Hi Billy. Can you say how you managed to get the dealer to make an AGREED trade price. I'm being told that they will give me the original value at this point in time, (afternoon of Friday the 13th.!!) but if the car doesnt come until August and I do 1000 mile a month in my current carI think that may change a bit.

When they originally quoted me 12 weeks , i had already been on here and knew the car would take longer to arrive, i told the dealer this and he discussed with the manager and they stated that as they had already quoted 12 weeks if the new car took longer to arrive then that was effectively their problem not mine and they woud either provide me with a temporary replacement car or keep the agreed trade in price. I opted for agreed trade in price as didnt want to have to get used to another car and then change vehicles again.

Hello and Welcome to Briskoda

My order with an Edinburgh dealer quotes and expected delivery date and an agreed trade in value, which may be subject to change but no lower than an agreed amount. The dealer is very aware of the Skoda compensation schemes and the fact I am on this forum (feeding back all comments relating to waiting times). They appear to be a frustrated with VAG and all the issues caused by long build times as those of us with placed orders.

The dealer has told me they have 24 customers waiting for information on build dates and deliveries with no information forthcoming from the Area Manager or Skoda UK.

I fear for George the senior sales executive at Skoda Cutlins Road. He seems to have developed a bit of a nervous laugh when you contact him re ETA Yeti. He did actually contact me once nor re any update info but to ask what colour of paint I would now want as Skoda were running out of Storm Blue and Aqua Blue!! I just think that the current advert for Skoda- More Colours, More Fun shouldn't really be allowed. I'm getting tempted to cut my losses and buy an already existing Yeti even though it won't have the spec I want. Another three or four months driving a Sportage diesel guzzler is £ killing me. Great car in snow when we had it but now I want something a bit more economical.

I had the same issue whilst waiting for the Scout. The trouble was that VAG just don't tell the dealer anything until the last minute. I had already given my car to the dealer for sn agreed price as it was at the end of it's pcp. Even though it wasn't a VAG make, they took the car and gave me a reasonable price leaving equity for the new car.

The Scout was supposed to take 6-8 weeks which was ambitious. When that time elapsed I spoke to the dealer and was loaned a brand new Fabia Monte Carlo for two weeks at no charge. Very happy with the service and my wife even got a bouquet , something I haven't experienced since buying a Subaru several years ago.

Oh, and it's Storm Blue so they haven't run out of paint!
