No fuel when tanks 1/4 full

Featured Replies

Looking for some inspiration and hope you can help.

All is well with my Octavia TDI mk1 (non PD) when the fuel tank is more than 1/4 full Below this, when you come to start it, you have to crank the engine for 10-15 seconds before she catches. It then runs fine after this. Any suggestions would be greatfully recieved befor I start pulling the system appart.

Sounds like the fuel may be running back down the fuel line to the tank. Vauxhall omega 2.5tds suffer this issue when the tank is around a quarter full or sometimes when warm, and is usually caused by the lift pump at the tank.

I hope you get it sorted!

My old s40 diesel used to cut out when fuel was below quarter of a tank, took me ages to figure out what it was,

Turned out to be dirt in tank sender unit where pickup was, there was a filter in there but it had been pulled through it and was blocking pickup when fuel was low,

Just a suggestion

Pointing to fuel run back.

If so you have a leak or very very very small pin ***** so ware in your fuel line :-) always a fun thing to find.

You can start off trying to clean the fuel lines bit by bit to see if you can see any fuel leaking.
