Fabia 2011: Help on audio setup

Featured Replies

Folks,

Hello! I am awaiting delivery of my Fabia Ambiente 1.2 MPI here in India. As in the Ambiente trim, it will be delivered without a head unit. Here's where I need help. I plan to install a Single DIN headunit:

- Do I need a facia plate? If yes, which one and from where can I get one?

- Do I need leads/wiring harness that will directly allow me to plug in the new Single DIN HU? I don't want to have any wires cut.

- My other option is this: I have a Double DIN Unit with me from my VW Polo. Would that fit and plug right in or should I anticipate any changes?

Appreciate all your help and expertise

The one in the polo should fit if it around the same year manufacured the fabia is a polo but wearing a different jacket, or get on eBay and find a dance or swing header cheap on ebay

Read the bottom of my post for the facia plate code no.

Also this will give you the wiring colours & pins. When you fit the new single DIN or your old Polo unit you only have to watch the switched and permanent ignition wires (as explaned in post). The new single stereo should come with a short wiring harness adaptor with wires to move around!! B)

  • 2 weeks later...

for single din hu ... i fitted in JVC it sat in neatly without needing any extra facia plate. the wiring harness was a problem to find and i had to switch yellow to red in the connections between the harness and the audio unit. no cutting of wires.

BTW how are you planning to install rear door speakers?

the red and the yellow are the constant and ignition lives and quite often they need switching, more so on french cars

youll know if they do when the radio looses any settings youve set once the ignition is off
