I have been looking at the other answers regarding this problem and it all seemed to point to the Brake lights or Brake switch. I have just checked this on my Octavia, 1.9 D Estate 53 reg 96Kmls, but they are all working OK including headlights & indicators. The only thing that has stopped in the last few days is the water temp gauge but this seems to have sprung back to life this evening.

Any other suggestions please ?

The water temp gauge issue will be the coolant temperature sensor, a common fault across the VAG range.

The flashing glow plug can be a huge number of things, the most common is the brake light switch, but as yours is working OK it will be best to get a VCDS scan done on the car to pinpoint the problem.
