Light warning sensor

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any problems with the light warning sensor on the dash, going in tomorrow for its third time to try and get it sorted. From what i've been told its to do with the rear high vis brake light, and the problem only occurs on the Vrs. Nothing actually wrong with the lights but everyday getting in and hearing that beep is driving me mad

This happened to the long-term test car that Autocar had, and I gather it's a bit of a common problem (no doubt there are some other posts on here about it...) At least you've got a fairly good chance that that IS the problem, and it's easily enough sorted under warranty, apparently! [EDIT: or not, after reading your post properly :o ]

in for waranty work today and they narrowed it down to some friendly sensor box or something like that they said

Mine had exactly the same and still does ! Light sensor has a life of its own ... quiet for a couple of weeks then has a bit of a fit coming on and off for a day or two then fine again. The garage in their helpful friendly way ... decided they can't help as it is intermittent and unles they see it happen can't fix it. They offered to let one of their staff use it for a week or so ( very generous I thought !!! NOT ... I really want to leave it with someone who doesnt care a stuff for a week to drive !) to try and identify the source. Eventually managed, through SKODA customer service (who were great) to swap the high level brake light (mentioning the auotcar test car and contacting the garage who fixed their problem) but still happens every now and then !! I would be interested to know exactly what sensor box was replaced as according to my dealer no such thing exists !!

Have learnt to live with it, my friend who has a MKIV Golf says his does the same very so often to maybe a VAG feature !

I'm assuming a light warning is like 'don't do that again, or I'll be cross'
