what's the difference between a topic, a post and a thread?

A topic is an overall category for example everything about a specific model e.g. Fabia. A thread is a collection of individual posts about a certain subject e.g. fuel economy (within a topic) . A post is a single comment or reply within a thread. Hope that helps.
