Alloy wheels and rim offset (ET)

Featured Replies

Hello,

Once again a question about alloy wheels and rim offset (ET)

I have Skoda Octavia 2010 Elegance. Specs of regular alloy wheels are: 6Jx15 ET47 (DEIMOS). I could get at a reasonable price Audi's "ABITOS" 7Jx16 ET42 wheels. Is this ABITOS wheel still suitable compared to original 6Jx15 ET 47 wheel? Or is offset too much?

Whether this change in the behavior of the car? ESP, ABS or some else functionality of the car?

regards,

Lakeside, Finland

They should be fine provided you're going to choose a sensible tyre size. This link will show you the difference it makes.

I think you will be OK.

I'm running 8x18 ET35 with 225/40-18 They look fine in the back, but a tad wide up front, should be a few mm narrower in the front.

Turning and bumps are not a problem, but i have the original ride height. I think they would rub the front wheelarches if i had lowered suspension.

They will only 'stick out' another 5mm, considering your car can come out of the factory with much wider wheels, you will have no problems.

Thanks to all for advise and some links.

Tyres will be 205/55/16 so there should't be any problems.

BTW: I found this site to calculate ET and other dimensions: RIMSnTIRES

You probably already knew this :-)
