Car Care Question

Featured Replies

My new Octavia 2.0TDI is due shortly and I was reading other posts about waxing and car care. I have a question about waxing and in particular Zymol wax.

Zymol recomends using HD-Clean to remove other wax before applying Zymol wax.

1. How well will my new Octavia have been waxed and is the wax decent?

2. Should I bother using HD-Clean to remove the original wax and start with a new appication of Zymol wax?

3. Is Zymol products the products to use?

Thanks guys.

I used Swissol on mine, on day 3. Like Zymol, it has a pre-treatment which removes the old wax etc. I was appalled how much grot I got off a new car, so yes, it is worth making sure the paintwork is absolutely immaculate before its first waxing. Be prepared to spend a whole morning doing it.

FWIW I waxed mine in July and it's still looking good now (and I live 8 miles from a power station). Swissol is good stuff, but expensive.

Fantastic advice bryand, thanks. I was worried about removing the wax the garage used but you are right about making the paintwork immaculate first, dont want to waste all my effort to have to repeat the process because I should have removed a coat of wax first.
