The roads around Sheffield and the Peaks are appauling and my car is now starting to clunk like our mk1 Fabia and mk1 Octavia, I'm assuming I now have the same problem on the mk2 Octavia.

Have you had similar problems? what have you changed your bushes for?

I used Powerflex bushes on my mk1 Octavia and replaced front/rear wishbone & ARB bushes and it ran for over 50k before I sold it without another days knocking and to my knowledge they are still fine after 70-80k miles.

I'm happy togo down this route again but wondered if like the mk1 Fabia (using the Cupra bushes) there is a similar option for the mk2 Octavia.

you can upgrade the console bushes to audi tt ones which are solid if you don't want go for poly bushes, see link for comparison

Or you can upgrade to Ibiza Cupra voidless bushes. Just replaced mine with these. Much better now and surprisingly cheap

Did you ever get the clunk sorted Matt? Farmers Nottingham and Rainworth Skoda both tell me its a characteristic. To be honest they deny hearing it. Either way its got worse and the car appears to wander all over the place.

No, I havent got round to getting it sorted yet. Mine certainly isn't a characteristic of the car as it didn't make the noise when I bought it and has only appeared since moving out into the countryside and driving around Sheffield.

I will be looking to change the bushes but I don't think I will be looking at it until after september now as I really need to get x4 new tyres before the summer hols with the caravan.

No I wasn't happy with that bull excuse either. My knocking and wandering has got progressively worse. If I manage to find my fault and get it fixed i'll post back.

I've gots some S3 console/bushes but HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET THE OLD CONSOLES OFF THE SODDING WISHBONE?

The peaks are a great part of the world but like you driving around the Holmfirth area the bushs don't last long. Had mine changed last month under warranty in my Scout. We'll see how long these ones last!

This is now really confusing me! I need to get mine done but all the talk on the forum has now become confusing!

I don't want PolyBushes, just normal rubber. I'd prefer non voided if possible. I've found normal voided bushes at TPS and eBay (OEM VAG) for £44 or £27 respectively - these are in the alloy casing. My garage (very trusted) informs me you can only get these in the casings, not separate. Yet here it appears they ARE available, though I'm yet to find out where, or get a confirmed Part No. I don't like going to order parts with a incomplete or incorrect part no. Makes one look like an idiot and p!sses off the supplier.

So - can you get bushes only? If so part no for voidless and voided please.

If not - best place to get complete unit (alloy and bush)
