front bump stops

Featured Replies

Hey there, when I put I my koni fsd's and eibach springs on I forgot to trim the bump stops! DOH!! So today I replaced the rear bump stops with the seat cupra ones which are shorter which made a real good difference! But I was wondering could I trim the front ones without taking the strut out? Btw halfords got a sale on axel stands and hydraulic jack atm!

If you have a sharp stanley knife you can get it between the coils of the springs and whizz round the stop, then cut a vertical slothole in it (so its now a C shape) and pull the bit you've cut out. It worked for me.

Another easy way if the above fails is to undo tthe damper rod from the top mount and jack the car up, stick a long allen key in the end of the rod and compress it; you should now be able to slide the bump stop out over the top of the rod. Then trim and refit...
