Just aquired an old Skoda Fabia SDI - complete with the all too common power steering failure!

Before I start replacing sensors, batteries, alternators, pumps, etc, it would seem sensible to do a quick check using VAG-COM to see what faults can be identified and focus on where to start.

Is there anyone in or around the Glasgow area who has access to VAG-COM and would be willing to help me out over this weekend sometime?

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Only one very slight problem in that plan... the Fabia has now suddenly decided not to to start!! May be the common 'starter motor wire' problem, but haven't had a chance to check it all out. Can I give you a shout when I'm back up and running and we can make a plan?
