VRS dilema

Featured Replies

Guys I have a dilema. I am selling my BMW 530d touring m sport and want to go for a VRS. I am unsure wether to go for a diesel or petrol. I cover around 5-7000 miles per year. My last 2 cars have been diesel's. Love the economy and torquey nature, also prefer a estate as I cover 2 journey's during the year of 5-1000 miles fully loaded up. Can anyone advise?

Although i run an 8 month old Diesel VRS , with the mileage you mentioned 5000 to 10000 miles per year a petrol engine would arguably be the more efficient route to follow and you get the advantage of the better acceleration of the petrol, although the diesel has better mid range grunt for motorway driving/overtaking etc.

Hi There,

I have had three petrol VRS Octavia's and I love them. I guess if you want better economy its the diesel for you, but for performance it has to be petrol. Just about to change my hatch for a DSG estate in metallic graphite grey. Only had to wait 12 weeks as well. Great cars

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome to Briskoda.

I have had a few Octavias and the 2.0TDi is an easier engine to live with on a daily basis. However, the extra cost of the diesel engine may not be worth it from the savings. But look at depreciation in the future? Who knows...? Go for what you fancy and be happy with it!

Enjoy.

I would guess a petrol would suit your needs.

Does anyone know if you can get mats for the door pockets to stop things sliding around?

With such a low mileage watch your DPF doesn't get clogged and knackered ! Don't have that problem with petrol.

Just bought a petrol. Test drove both, thought the diesel was excellent, but preferred the immediate power delivery of the petrol. Not a lot in it, apart from about a grand when you buy it. With the miles you're doing, the petrol makes the most sense.

Saw a thread somewhere else on the forum about door pocket mats, so yes but you will have to search for it.
