Fabia brakes

Featured Replies

I have read a few threads about noisy brakes on the Fabia but thought this was something that cropped up when reversing only.

My vRS has only done 4500 miles but the rear brakes sound like the pads have totally worn out already. I certainly hope this isn't the case, can't see that it can be really. Is this typical for the fault that has already been discussed (and if I remember correctly has had a repair kit made available from Skoda UK)?

This time of year the muck & crud gets into the rear brakes. The rears don't get used as much as the fronts, so the muck just builds up on the pads & calipers & causes the noises you hear.

A good blast with a pressure washer will clear any muck. Or you could apply the handbrake for a few hundred yards whilst driving (the handbrake warning beep will be activated).

Ditto from Jon TDI,

Have had the same prob, also tried another bit of advice, which works.

Find a VERY quiet road, get to 50 mph & break hard ( don't let ABS cut in ), do this 3 -5 times & the noise will gradually fade.

Altho i have the noise coming back due to recent road salting.

Steve
