Roof weight limit on 2011 Octavia Estate?

Featured Replies

Anyone know of the top of their head what the maximum weight limit is for loading the roof bars on a 2011 Octavia Estate? Seem to remember it being 80 kilos. Also, has anyone carried 4 bikes on the roof and was it okay? I've been left the task of ordering some more roof cycle carriers and have no car manuals here. Thanks.

Hi. sounds reasonable, 55 plate is 75kg. looking into racks myself. seeing if i can make one though - like the challenge. have made a good kayak mount.

75kg including racks/rails- same as my last Avensis, which coped with four up no problem.

Superb has limit of 100kg but not sure I woudl want so much extra weight on the roof (like a 16 stone adult!)

A Yeti can carry a helicopter so i'll reckon you'll be OK

Thanks guys - much appreciated!! - Or maybe I should strap the Octavia to the bikes instead - save petrol!

Hi amck, I've carried four bikes on the roof of my estate, 3 mountain bikes & a road bike, altogether though I think those 4 bikes weighed about 45-50Kg then there is the rack itself about 15-20kg, so in all my weight probably never exceeded 70Kg, not sure if that helps. I have however carried 3 kayaks which would total about 85Kg. Rollcage & crash helmet and you'll be 'Infinity & beyond' good luck & duck for low bridges.
