This is good reading. It is my turn to drive to Le Mans for the 24hr race next year and I can't wait to take the VRS. ...

It's also another one of those things that every motorsport fan/petrolhead should do, I can highly recommend it B)

Yep, we did Le Mans every year for many years (pre-children). I had a faster car back then, but boot space and MPG wasn't as good as the Vrs :p :

That could go in the Bad Parking thread over on PH rob! :D

Any excuse to post up pics of the Esprit eh Rob ;)

And +1 on the bad parking :p

lol.. yeah, bang to rights on both counts!

In my defence, the last pic - that was the only space left when we got to the hotel (forume1 le mans nord) - some cheeky F40's had even blagged the disabled spots :o

I think with a 550 and an Esprit I'd have spread them out over 3 spaces as well!

Can't see the content from work but will have a look tonight.

If I had an F40 I think i'd also park it in the (wider) disabled bays

VRS is a classic long distance cruiser, though i'm not sure if it cuts it with the Le Mans crowd. Saw a team of TVRs this year with a race blue VRS as the support vehicle. Sure enough it was called in to action a short way in to France

The blend of reasonable power, a big boot and cruise control should be a good one - although I hope to get over 31mpg as reported by the OP!

"an F40"? Nope, more than one of them:

Nice! Well apart from a fair bit of damage on the front of the 1st one.... emoticon-0106-crying.gifemoticon-0104-surprised.gif

Nope, it was immaculate. It had some "temporary" anti-stone-chip plastic on the front:

:D

Phew! Looked like a terrible case of lacquer peel over the carbon fibre for a minute there emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

Diesel is taxed less in France & Spain & is noticably cheaper than petrol, In Spain last week we were paying 1.22 Euros a litre at the local garage & only 1.28 on the Motorways. Cant exactly remember the French prices as we managed with only one fill up each way but Im think it was around 1.44 Euros a litre, France with the tolls though works out more expensive than the Uk for a trip but its a joy to knock off hundreds of miles at high speed. From Southern Spain up to our stop in France it was about 750 miles & we averaged just over 80 & thats with the cruise set at 95 (90 on Tom Tom) to minimise any potential fine. Spain also once you get a little way in has no tolls, just miles of empty roads that the EU ( WE !!!!!) have paid for

'Spain also once you get a little way in has no tolls, just miles of empty roads that the EU ( WE !!!!!) have paid for' - I suspect Germany has paid far more than the UK, as the current economic powerhouse of Europe!

Let's not turn this very good thread into some strange discussion of EU member state subsidy rates! emoticon-0108-speechless.gif

If you feel the need, take it to a new thread....
