1.8 TSi 152PS - Octavia SE Plus

Featured Replies

Greetings One and All,

I've just gone into a dealer to place an order for a 1.8 TSi Elegance with one or two extras, and was steered towards the SE Plus model which has most of what I'm looking for and are in stock.

I'm always a little suspicious of special edition models, as they can be a route for shifting end of line models or parts, but I've no knowledge of the Octy II coming near end of life.

So in short the car has telephone prep, maxidot, MDI and an integrated sat nav, but lacks dual zone climate and the storage box / arm rest. There are some other minor spec differences as well.

My biggest question is the addition of another 1.8TSi engine, which has slightly lower power output though similar performance and consumption figures. This engine has been introduced (apparently) to ease production lead times.

Does anybody know anything more about this engine? I'm assuming it's a genuine VAG engine possibly used elsewhere in the group currently. Does anyone have any other info on the SE Plus? It does seem a resonable deal, and they're clearly available now as opposed to Christmas!

Many thanks.

I think the Octavia III is due out in 2012 or 13 but end of run bin emptying isn't relevant to the SE plus as it is also available in Fabia and Superb

Don't worry buddy, these are all marketing calculations to shift stock. Dual zone climate makes no difference, i never used it, single zone is good enough. Arm rest jumbo box can be fitted after for little money.

As for 152PS I bet real life it's doing 160, as the normal 160 does 170PS.

Enjoy it.

i quite like the look of the SE+, it would really make me think if I was buying an Elegance from new if it is actually a better choice.

Has anyone used the 'Solutions' payment method of payment as I see if you take it you also get 3 year's of servicing included?

I'd be interested how much the monthly payment would be as it sounds like 3 years care free motoring
