Cambelt interval on late 2.0 TDi PD

Featured Replies

We recently traded in our 06 plate 2.0TDi for a 10 plate 2.0 TDi - still the PD engine and not the CR. Looking at the service book it would appear that the cambelt does not require changing until 150k km (IIRC) and no mention of time dependency - I seem to remember that it was 120k km or 4 years on our previous car, whichever came first. Can anyone confirm this for me please?

Also, I assume its not possible to change the actual readout in the bottom of the dashboard from kph to mph (and yes I have tried reading the handbook to find the answer!) - I guess its because the actual speedo itself is only in mph with no kph markings?

Hoping this Skoda is as good as the last one - we bought the last one at 9 months old, 13k miles, and added a further 60k miles over 4 years. The only failure as such was a brake light a couple of months before we traded it in and that was it - it was still on the original brake pads (whereas the pads on our Jag XF lasted 22k miles!)

Do you mean it's still PD, and not CR? :S If so, which model Octavia have you bought?

I still can't believe they're not issuing helpful guidance on this in the handbook. The length of time is as important as the mileage limit. I would still stick to a 4yr limit on the cambelt, tensioners and waterpump.

Sorry for the confusion Wardy - its a PD and not CR (now corrected my original post). Its another 140bhp TDi (without DPF) - SE model which seems to be a direct replacement for the Ambiente we had previously. We decided to be risk averse and had the cambelt changed and water pump replaced at the 4 year mark on our last car and I was expecting the replacement car to be the same (it also doesn't have a DPF) but was a bit surprised by the service booklet suggesting 150k km and no mention of replacing it at 4 years.

No worries, that's what I thought you meant emoticon-0148-yes.gif

And even with no time limit being mentioned, 150k Km is 93k miles - and I just wouldn't leave it that long personally.
