Wiper Blades

Featured Replies

My car is coming up to 14 months old now and the drivers side wiper is streaking quite badly.

I have spotted this thread:

Has anyone else successfully changed just the blade part? If so how much are they and can they be bought from a VW dealer? (VW at the end of street from work....Skoda over 20miles away!)

Cheers :)

I bought a pair of Bosch Aerotwin, I think OEM they are the same, 39 Euro at a petrol station in Germany, models for Golf5 fit.

20 seconds job, leave wipers halfway on the windscreen, lift, turn balde halfway, it pops out.

Costco also do goodyear areo wipers for about £8 each which saves messing around with refills

I know how easy it is to change the wipers but just wanted to know if the refills are any good to save paying £27 for some bosch ones from wiperblades.co.uk

I did the refill route on my old Mk2. Seems to be hit & miss on the order numbers whether you get the end caps included or not. With mine, I just ended up with the rubbers and re-used the existing caps. This was from a VW dealer by the way, no idea on the refill route through Skoda as I'm in exactly the same position as you, re location of VW and Skoda dealers...

Cost for the 2 refills was around £12 IIRC. So if you think the VW dealer is half-decent, with a Parts Dept who have their wits about them - pop in :)

I did have a look at doing it a few months back, as mine needed doing - but then I spotted some Valeo silicon ones on offer on Wiperblades for £17, so got those instead :)

hmmm might not bother then if the refills are £12 - will pop to the VW dealer and ask them though,.

Worth a check, certainly. It might be that I ended up with the wrong thing! This was 2+ yrs ago.

On speeding.co.uk you can get the Valeos for £21.99 with free postage. Used these for the last two years with no problems at all.

Cool, may just get them then as its free postage and saves hassle!
