Strange warning light problems

Featured Replies

Fabia Greenline II

Whilst accelerating up to 70 MPH the warning gong sounded, and the ABS,Traction Control, and Tyre Pressure warnings came on.

Slowed down and pulled over, checked type pressures, all OK.Started car same lights still on,Pulled away, gong sounded and warning lights went out.

but Air Con and stop start not working and no "must Run" indication, after 2 miles air con worked, after a shopping stop the Stop Start now working

Phoned dealer, but they had no idea what happened.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I'd start by checking the auxilliary drivebelt tension. You can get these sorts of (spurious, because the issue is low voltage to the control computers, not failures in system hardware) effects if the alternator stops charging.

A code reader will probably a double figure number of $system; implausible signal and/or implausible voltage faults.

I checked the belt tension it is tight with about 5mm movement on its longest side. I assume we are talking about the belt that goes around the alternator pulley, the crankshaft pulley, and a smooth guide pulley, can't see any other belts,I'm looking at:- http://www.enginesandgearboxes.co.uk/makes/skoda.aspx

any other ideas?

all those lights would come on if the computer lost a signal from one of the ABS sensors (could have been dirt/grit ect) then a restart would reset the system, a signal comes back to the computer, and all is well ;)

If it doesn't automatically reset as Sharkriders says...then dealer visit is safest!

It seems to have reset itself, thanks Sharkriders and Estate Man At the time I expected to see one of my wheels pass me,

This problem has got worse recently, the three warning lights (traction control, abs and tyre pressure) come on after a few miles on every journey. Dealer checked on Monday, and they blamed tyre pressures. on journey home lights came on again. Car now with dealer to have the rear left abs sensor changed and wiring checked, have a nice Octavia TSI estate as a loan car.

As a side issue I was told my tyre pressures were to high, they should be 30psi, the fuel cap cover says 2.6 bar(37.7psi) with 2 adults, an I had set them to that pressure. which is correct? I have Dunlop tyres

I think 2.6bar is too high 36psi I think 2.5 bar

thanks, have got car back and replacing the lhr abs sensor seems to have cured problem

I have emailed Skoda for an answer on tyre pressures as I believe the law only allows me to deviate from the correct pressure by 10% and 30psi to 38 psi is more than 10%, aside from any safety implications

Look on your fuel filler cap - you will see two values, low and high. Legally, if your tyres are within thus range you are fine
