Sidelight and headlight trouble, still confused!

Featured Replies

Having become a new owner of a '04 Fabia yesterday, I am having trouble with the headlights and sidelights. One sidelight is particularly intermittent and is either on or has two LEDs dimly lit only. Sometimes the headlight on that side goes off too. Sometimes the other sidelight goes out in sympathy. They seem to behave better with the engine off.

I searched carefully through the forum and found several suggestions including replacing the bulbs, a steering wheel sensor, a PAS (not sure what that is but it sounds expensive) and the battery.

Tapping the back of the light unit often brings them on, or at least makes the LED flicker a bit more vigorously. I'm not sure which solution is best to try.

Can anyone provide any advice, or point me to any threads that will help?

Cheers everyone!

Try putting normal bulbs in and see if you have the same problem.

Yup led bulbd are trash!

Probs the sidelight will be crappy led failure, dipped beam may be blown bulb and with you knocking it brings it on (shorts filament together - soon breaks again though or dodgy connection / earth on bulb... Maybe bulb not seated right in holder)
