Is boot carpet same in hatchback as estate?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if the boot floor carpet (has the hard backing over the spare wheel) is the same on the hatchback as the estate as presume its the same floor just different rear pillars to create the estate?

Need the carpet for mine and suppose unless anyone knows for definate then if anyone can take a pic of the carpet from each car. Cheers in advance all

I understand that the boot liners interchange between hatch and estate. So my logic would therefore say that the carpet area is the same size and shape.

Seems from looking at the liners on ebay that the estate one is a rectangle and the hatch has the carpet in the small side compartments so thinking that they might indeed be different :(

Damn. Just thinking if we have any estates at the monthly NW meet. Only if Brimma attends I think (which he often does).

I know Pet8tch has a boot liner (as it's my old one!) so could swap that into the estate to test. Or at least physically compare the hatch boot directly with the estate emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Will do some more checking in the meantime, see what I can find.

The boot liner from the hatch fits fine in the estate. I had the boot liner in my preFL mk2 hatch and it is now in my FL estate and fits fine. Can not remember exactly the floor carpet on the hatch but I do not remember the lift up area being anything but rectangular (like the estate). Although the estate looks like it does not have the cutouts in the rear like the hatch it does, it is just they have covers in the estate. The side bits of carpet (that do not lift) extend into these covered area the same as it did in the hatch.

Looking at the P/Ns for the liners on both hatch and estate, it would appear that they're different. Wouldn't be the first time that a different PN did the trick though :)

Cheers lads, so if you need access to the spare wheel on the estate then you have to pull the side panels off. Thats not a big issue to me just wondered if anyone with an estate can confirm pretty please. Need a boot carpet sorted soon.

I didn't think that was necessary for underfloor access. I'd drop Brimma a quick message, see if he can confirm for you.

You don't have to pull the side panels off to access the spare wheel.

I have a L&K Estate so it comes as standard with the raised boot floor and you can access the spare wheel by folding back the raised floor, then lifting the carpet. It is a rectangular section of carpet that lifts up, more or less the full width of the inside of the runners for the raised boot floor.

I am not familiar with the hatch, but I suspect they are the same.
