Tyre Load Index

Featured Replies

Dealer fitted two new front tyres today, previous were rated 97y, Extra load. The ones they've fitted are only 93y

are these compatible, or should I be driving straight back to them?

Any opinions welcome

Thanks

Shouldn't be an issue - they're just cheaper. I worked out that fow winter I could run my A6 allroad 3.0TDI on my Scoy wheels and tyres (94). Equally, my old (2007) A4 2.0TDI Avant could happily be downgraded to 91 LI.

A load index of 89 should be OK on an Octavia at speeds up to 210kph but I seem to remember the spec (I did look but couldn't find it) is actually higher perhaps reflecting the higher top speed. My Conti SC2s as fitted new are load index 92.

They will be fine, the 97 are way higher than what an Octavia needs - the Superb only has 94's.
