vcds/vag com on a octavia

Featured Replies

looking at buying a vag com unit for the octavia but what sort of settings can you change which them (not faults) ie windows up when you lock the car etc

Hi Rob, the list is pretty big, you're really only limited by your imagination.

You can do things such as window control from the key fob, single door unlock, multi door unlock '1 click', activating DRL's CH/LH lights, installing & activating new options, CD changers, Columbus/Bolero head units, cruise control etc.. Right through to selecting how bright your lights, how heavy or light to make your power steering right through to other scary things like telling your Octavia you are now a diesel car (from a petrol) or vice versa, you can even code it to think it's an Audi, Seat, VW, or even a Bentley. Although coding the latter will do nothing for your street cred just bring on a whole host of lights & whistles.

Most common uses are for turning off the annoying seat-belt alarm, activating new self retrofits, turning on the second fog light, activating DRL's, and CH/LH lights.

Or if you know what you want to change you could just contact a local forum member who has it.

I'm in Holmfirth, could possibly arrange to meet up sometime. I have a hex +can.

Would this work on mine, have you used it on yours, what have you changed?

What have I changed? Ok:

I have adjusted the dash mpg reading to make it accurate.

Turned on Scandanavian DRL's using the fogs instead of main beam.

Turned on second rear fog light.

Turned on emergency break hazard lights.

Coded in my aftermarket Columbus.

Coded in my aftermarket MDI.

Turned in the front and back tear drop wipes.

I have maxi-dot so didn't need to do the the ch/lh lights or comfort indicators etc.

Can't confirm all this is available for yours but works for a prefl scout.

I've got a 2012 vrs dsg estate.was hoping to do

Enable corner fogs

Mph display

Day time lights dim when indicating

Double rear fogs

Fogs instead of xenons for c/h L/h lights

Higher intensity drl's

Are all of these easy to do?,cheers

What are tear drop wipers?

You cannot activate the second fog on a FL Octavia unfortunately.

Corner fogs I have also done on mine, mph display I believe is done by changing the country code to Australia and as Stoofa says 2nd rear fog can't be done on the facelift, otherwise I think everything is doable. The intensity of the DRL's will depend in the current setting, I think default is 92% but not sure.

And tear drop wipe is an extra wipe 10 or so seconds after the screen wash cycle.

Going to a garage on Wednesday to switch off the NA lights and clear the fault code with both rear fogs on.

Was going to disable the one door opening on pressing the button as I have auto lock enabled already

All but the rear fog light is easy enough to do.

DRL's are 92% as std and TBH I could see no difference when they were increased.
