advice needed?

Featured Replies

Hi there, I could just do with some advice with my Octavia VRS.

I intend to keep my car for a few years yet but I don't have the budget to spend loads on it.

This year I know the front arb bushes need replacing, the front wishbone bushes need replacing, the brake fluid is starting to look dirty (was changed 2 years ago) and also the centre bracket on the exhaust has been gone for a while and the bracket on the backbox is looking corroded so need to get that done this year, getting the system replaced.

Eventually I want to swap the dampers and springs for a set of Weitecs but I don't have that sort of money spare.

Where would the best place be to get a set of front wishbones with bushes, balljoints and anti roll bar bushes? I need to find out what size anti roll bar I have on mine if I need the sleeves as well I'm a bit confused about that. From doing some reading it appears to be a 19mm front arb but its the issue of sleeves etc that is confusing me.

I don't have the skills or space/tools to work on it myself, are garages likely to tell me to foxtrot oscar if I supplied parts and asked them to fit?

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Can't help regarding suspension but:-

1) It would be worth getting a VAG specialist to do a now due brake fluid change. Lots of people have run into trouble trying to DIY this, even with a pressure bleeder; better by far to use VCDS bleeding.

2) Exhaust centre bracket - There are lots of these cars with a bust centre bracket. Mine's been like that for 5 years now.

3) Back box - I'd need to see this, but most people run them til they break.

Thanks for the reply pal.

I have my Octavia booked in for a brake fluid change this coming thursday.

With everything else I think I will just go to GSF and get OEM parts, just could do with finding somewhere to fit them...
