newbie with turbo noise question

Featured Replies

does the turbo on octavia 1.8t vrs make a noise

couldnt hear it before the remap now i can hear a whistle sound over 2000 revs

or could it be air leaking have had it on a smoke test and they found the intercooler was leaking and fitted a new one

could it be something lose after they fitted it? a pipe or something not put on right

also can hear the air coming from the dv when taking foot off pedal is this normal

only asking as when i brought it few feeks ago it seemed quieter and couldnt hear these much

or anyone local to wolvo could try it and let me know what they think

thanks

yes thats normal on both counts a re-map alters the boost level so its louder  and air from the dv is the being dumped back into the turbo system ie re-crculated

ok thanks just couldnt hear it before and seems bit to loud can even hear it with window up

and couldnt hear anything and thought the octavia turbo was meant to be quieter

thanks for reply

by comparison to my Celica GT4 ST205(255bhp on low boost 300bhp on high boost jap import) that i used to have, the VRS is very quiet  now the DV on that was loud..... atmospheric Bailey's

and my VRS is Quicker than my celica GT4 that i can vouch for....

The vrs is a good car but even better when it's re-mapped you'll suprise quite a few cars :giggle:
