Sudden loss of power on acceleration - No fault codes

Featured Replies

I have a 1.2 AZQ 2004 Fabia. 50K on clock. Never missed a beat. Regularly serviced ( by me )

Fault is occasionally ( once every 50 miles ) I will try to accelerate from relatively low revs (1500-2000) and NOTHING happens even when pushing foot to floor. Take foot off accelerator and reapply all is well. It is very similar to when on our other fabia an ignition coil went, BUT unlike this it is NOT putting on the engine management light and when diagnosing there are NO faults found ( Using VAG-COM )

Once it hasd done it you can force it to keep doing it by accelerating to 3000, up a gear and try heavy acceleration and there is NO acceleration.

I have bought an ignition coil just in case and keeping it in the car. If it fails I can swap it once the diagnostices tells me which one.

I could swap one coil at a time, but would need to wait more than 50 miles to see if it has worked.

Anyone else had this. I am confused as to why the engine management is NOT throwing up fault codes !!!

Just because the EML hasn't come on, doesn't mean there wont be a fault code stored if it's sporadic. Get it scanned with VAGCOM and work from there.
