vw golf mk4 door mouldings?

Featured Replies

I've got a set of golf mk4 door mouldings.

I need the strips on my doors due to the dreaded laquer peel under my original ones but I can't stand the shape of the originals.

The mk4 mouldings are nearly a direct fit in length to the fabia's mouldings, the back doors are spot on to the mm and the fronts only need about 12mm cut off.

I've prepped and sprayed them ready for replacement.

Here's the original ones. Ignore the badge (binned) and the ride height, now lower.

Going for these. (Best photo I could find on golf)

Wider and a lot flatter.

Fitting in the morning, pic's to follow.

Looking forward to the pics to see how they look

Golf mouldings ready to go on. Just waiting for the ferkin rain to stop then I can take the originals off and start toffee wheeling the residue off.

Isn't it a 300ZX?

Interested to see the mouldings on too :)

Actually I can't remember. Doh! It's gone now, been sold.

I think it was a twin turbo 3 litre with 4 exhausts hanging out the back and a t-bar roof.

Ring any bells?

"twin turbo 3 litre with 4 exhausts hanging out the back and a t-bar roof"

Sounds like a 300zx

Definitely not a 200SX, they only came with a single turbo 1.8 or 2.0 (CA18DET in the early S12 and S13, then the SR20DET in the S14/S14a), nothing bigger.

That would be a 300

New mouldings fitted today.

Out with the old

Mess left so used a toffee wheel and spirit wipe to get it all off.

Couldn't leave them bare even though it looked good due to bubbling laquer. (Before anyone starts)

Double sided tape and a faint old line to follow, on they went!!

Subtle mod but looking good B) it does make a difference on the line.

Looking at the last picture is the rear one slightly below the front one?

mmmm. I'll go check now...

Yea it is very slightly, looks worse in photo.

It'll do though.

Looking Good Fabla,

Something I might try myself, quick question I can't remember if the golf ones are smooth or not, if you don't mind how much are the moldings ?

Cheers

They're not smooth korban, they're textured plastic but with 3 coats of primer that soon disappears.

Didn't pay for them lol. I had used ones given to me.

Think they're only £20 odd new. Come with locating plugs but just cut them off.

Back door ones are a direct fit but the front needs a couple of mm cut off.

Easy little job.

Thanks for the quick reply, will look into it.

Why don't you come to the meet next month, would like a look at it close up

Cheers

Karl

Pleaseeeee don't have it on the 9th or 10th of July as I have to attend Aberdare park national road races for work.
